your technique and get dancing while hooping on the waist, hips, hands,
legs and shoulders! Combos and performance techniques will be covered,
along with intermediate and advanced level tricks. Strengthening
exercises including squats, lunges and arm movements (all while
hooping!) to strengthen and prepare our bodies to flow into all the
delicious movements in hoop dance! Specialized Techniques will also be
explored, with special focus on:
The Mechanics of Hooping: How is it that we affect the hoop? Using “points” to guide and propel your hoop with ease.
Multi
Awareness: The ability to do one thing with your body while you do
another thing, often opposite and even in different rhythms, with your
hoop. Achieved by cultivating the ability to adjust your focus between
two separate goals. I.e.; leaping while simultaneously moving the hoop
up to your shoulders. This skill is ESSENTIAL to truly dancing with
your hoop!
Flow: The sensation of effortlessness, no mind, and
pure joy while in motion. All movements are easier and more enjoyable
when you are in this state!
Economy of Movement: Ever notice how a skilled hooper looks like they are barely moving? This is economy of movement.
